A Grand Effort by the Club

Bideford Cricket Club has presented £1000 to the Children's Hospice South West in Fremington.

CHSW Cheque Presentation Jan2011

The money was collected as a result of a number of fund raising events held during last season, including a 'Two Bridges' sponsored walk by the wives and girlfriends of some of the players, and a cricket festival held on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Club Chairman Martin Barratt said, "We're really delighted to be able to hand this cheque over tonight to the Children's Hospice South West. Our club has a real family and community feel to it with over 100 colts registered, who all get involved in our fund raising activities one way or another. We all love our cricket and we're already planning next season's August Bank Holiday fund raising festival - I hope to see as many people down there as possible!"

David Butt, from the CHSW said, "We're so very grateful that once again Bideford Cricket Club has put so much time and effort into fundraising events for us. I wish them the very best of luck for next season!"

Bideford Cricket Club has raised several thousand pounds for Little Bridge House since 2008 when it staged a sell-out charity match against Marcus Trescothick's Somerset. A Twenty/20 tournament in 2009 netted £500.

Pre-season indoor nets are held at Bideford Community College on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm (from January 18th) - players old and new are welcome. For more information, please look at www.bidefordcc.co.uk
